Ingredients for Delicious Matar Paneer Recipe

  • 1 cup of fresh or frozen green peas (matar)
  • 200g of paneer, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 large tomatoes
  • 2 green chilies
  • garlic-ginger paste
  • Black peppercorns, cloves
  • cardamom, cinnamon, and bay leaves
  • 1/2 cup of cashew nuts (soaked in hot water for 20 minutes)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh cream (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

How To Make Delicious Matar Paneer Recipe?


  • Cut paneer into small pieces.
  • Take a bowl and put paneer into it; add 1/2 tablespoon turmeric, red chilli powder, salt, 1 tablespoon garlic ginger paste, and gently combine everything.
  • Marinate for 15 minutes.
  • After marinating, you can fry paneer with butter or oil for 5-10 minutes.

Prepare the Paste

  • First, take a pan, add one tablespoon of oil, heat the oil, and put all ingredients like Black peppercorns, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaves,1 large onion, 2 large tomatoes, and 2 green chillis.
  • And 1/2 cup of cashew nuts, saute them for 5-7 minutes.
  • Let them cool, and grind the all ingredients into a smooth paste.

For the Gravy

  • In a pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Then, add the garlic ginger paste. Saute them for a few minutes.
  • Add all ingredients smooth paste mixture. sauté the paste mixture for about 12-15 minutes on medium-low heat until the oil starts to separate from the mixture.
  • Now, it’s time to add the dry spices – coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt. Stir well and cook for a few more minutes.
  • Add green peas and let them cook in the gravy for about 5-7 minutes until they become tender. If you want a little more sweetness, you can add a pinch of sugar at this point.
  • Gently place the fried paneer cubes into the simmering gravy. Be careful not to break them. Let them cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  • Sprinkle garam masala over the Matar Paneer and stir. If you prefer a creamier texture, add fresh cream and mix well. Adjust the seasoning as per your taste.
