Ingredients for Mutton Paya Soup Recipe

  1. 4 Mutton Paya (Goat Trotters), cleaned and split
  2. 1/4 cup Ginger-Garlic paste
  3. 2 large Onions, finely chopped
  4. 2 Tomatoes, chopped
  5. 2 Green chilli
  6. Black pepper
  7. Cardamon
  8. Cinnamon
  9. 2 tbsp Oil
  10. 2 tbsp Ghee
  11. 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  12. 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  13. 1 tbsp Red Chili powder
  14. Salt, to taste
  15. Coriander leaves
  16. Water

How To Make Traditional Mutton Paya Soup Recipe? 

Step 1

  • Wash the mutton paya thoroughly under running water. Make sure to remove any excess fat or debris.
  • Put Paya in the pressure cooker along with enough water. Add whole spices like black pepper, cardamom, and cinnamon, then add salt to cover the trotters. Pressure cook for 8-10 whistles or until the meat is tender.

Step 2

  • Heat oil or ghee in a pan, add finely chopped onions and green chilli. sauté onions until golden brown. Next, add Ginger-Garlic paste and fry the mixture for a few sec.
  • Add Tomatoes and cook until they soften. Then add Add Turmeric powder, Coriander powder and Red Chili powder. Stir well and cook for   a few more minutes until the oil starts to separate from it.

Step 3

  • Add cooked paya into the mixture, and water as you choose.
  • Let it cook on low heat for at least 10 minutes, and add garam masala, allowing the flavours to meld. Turn off the heat.

Step 4

  • Ladle the piping hot Mutton Paya Soup into bowls. Garnish with the chopped Coriander leaves. Squeeze a wedge of lemon for that extra zing.
